Dubai is taking a major step to foster entrepreneurship with the launch of the “Employee to Entrepreneur Programme” by the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ). The initiative is designed to support employees within DIEZ and its affiliated economic zones in establishing and growing their own startups, providing a platform for innovation and business creation.
The programme aims to nurture entrepreneurial thinking among Dubai’s workforce by equipping employees with mentorship, resources, and guidance to transform their ideas into viable startups. It reflects Dubai’s broader vision of creating a dynamic business ecosystem where talent can thrive and innovate.
“The Employee to Entrepreneur Programme will enable our workforce to not only contribute to existing businesses but also launch the next generation of startups,” a DIEZ spokesperson said, highlighting the initiative’s potential to drive economic growth and innovation.
The launch coincides with significant growth within Dubai’s integrated economic zones. In 2024, the number of employees in companies registered under DIEZ grew by 21% compared with 2023, bringing the total workforce to over 84,000 employees. This expansion underscores the growing opportunities and vibrancy of Dubai’s economic landscape, setting the stage for employees to explore entrepreneurial ventures.
By encouraging employees to transition from traditional roles to startup founders, the “Employee to Entrepreneur” programme strengthens Dubai’s position as a global hub for business and innovation. It provides employees with a clear pathway to leverage their expertise, creativity, and professional experience to build successful enterprises that contribute to the emirate’s diversified economy.
With this initiative, Dubai is not only fostering job creation but also cultivating the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and business leaders ready to make a global impact.
