Kaspersky Sounds Alarm After Blocking 100,000+ Scams Across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt Since 2024
Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has issued a major regional warning as the Middle East faces a sharp rise in fake investment platforms designed to steal sensitive financial and personal information. The alert comes after Kaspersky successfully blocked over 100,000 scam attempts across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt since early 2024 — a number that continues to grow as online fraud becomes more sophisticated.
The threats include fraudulent trading platforms, fake crypto investment sites, and impersonated brokerage apps, all using tactics such as convincing branding, fabricated testimonials, and urgent financial offers to lure unsuspecting users. Many victims unknowingly submit their data or invest funds into platforms controlled by cybercriminals.
The warning follows a recent joint awareness initiative between Kaspersky and eToro, the global trading and investment platform, aimed at educating users about safer digital investment practices. The campaign urges investors to verify platform authenticity, avoid unsolicited investment messages, and never share sensitive details unless the platform is fully verified.
Experts note that the Middle East’s growing interest in digital trading and crypto assets has created a fertile environment for scammers, making strong cybersecurity awareness an essential part of modern investing.
Kaspersky’s message is clear: always verify before you invest. As online scams evolve, vigilance remains the region’s strongest defense against financial fraud.
